Hitdorfs Harbour is a popular resort on the Rhine. Where sailing and motor boats are berthed today was once a significant transfer point for distributing goods and commodities brought by water. Its history goes back to the Middle Ages. 

Many excursion tourists and motorists alike take the ferry across the Rhine between Leverkusen-Hitdorf and Cologne-Langel. The history of the Hitdorf ferries can be traced back over a period exceeding four hundred years.
